What Is the Days Between Two Dates Calculator?
Calculating the exact days between two dates is essential for project planning, contract deadlines, loan interest calculations, rental periods, and legal timeframes. Whether you need to know how many days until a deadline, the duration between two events, or the business days in a time span, this calculator handles the math including leap years and variable month lengths.

Practical Tips
- Contract deadlines are often calculated in calendar days, not business days. A '30-day notice period' starting January 15 ends February 14, not February 28. Always verify whether your agreement specifies calendar or business days.
- Pregnancy is calculated as 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of the last menstrual period, not from conception. This is a common source of confusion that can throw off due date estimates by 2 weeks.
- Visa overstay penalties in many countries are calculated by calendar days. In the Schengen Area, you get 90 days within any 180-day rolling period. Even one day over triggers entry bans — count precisely.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate days between two dates?
Subtract the earlier date from the later date. This calculator does it automatically — enter both dates and get the result in days, weeks, months, and business days. It accounts for leap years and variable month lengths.
Does this include or exclude the end date?
By default, this calculator counts the days between the two dates, excluding both the start and end dates. If you need to include the end date (common for rental periods and hotel stays), add 1 to the result.
How are business days calculated?
Business days exclude Saturdays and Sundays. Federal holidays are not automatically excluded since they vary by employer. The business day count shown is weekdays only — adjust for your specific holiday schedule.
How many days are in a year?
A common year has 365 days. A leap year has 366 days (February gets 29 days instead of 28). Leap years occur every 4 years, except for century years not divisible by 400. So 2000 was a leap year, but 1900 was not.
